The Storefronts team is responsible for the main entry points to Airbnb’s guest experience, including homepage and search pages. The team works closely with design, product, and data science partners to deliver impactful experiences to millions of users and collaborates with other engineering teams to create scalable, performant systems.

Your Impact:

  • Build personalized features for Airbnb’s homepage to help guests discover stays and experiences globally
  • Support new and growing products, including Airbnb Experiences and Services
  • Drive technical improvements to enhance product quality and team velocity

A Typical Day:

  • Develop APIs powering user interfaces and discovery features
  • Improve performance and robustness of backend services and architecture alongside search engineering teams
  • Work on new product features and experiences with cross-disciplinary engineers
  • Utilize AI tools to develop guest-facing features and internal engineering tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in design, product, marketing, and data science to take features from design to production

Your Expertise:

  • 4+ years developing backend applications and APIs, preferably in Java
  • Experience with distributed systems and microservice architectures
  • Knowledge of service monitoring, alerting, and performance optimization
  • Strong product sense to balance technical requirements with user experience
  • Effective collaboration with technical and non-technical partners
  • Adaptability to challenges with a positive attitude
  • Bonus: Experience with GraphQL, Kotlin, Thrift IDL, and server-driven architectures

Location Details:
This role is US-Remote eligible. Occasional office work or offsite attendance may be required. Candidates must reside in a U.S. state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
