Description:
RemoteHunter is seeking a skilled AWS Cloud Engineer to join a leading organization that provides research, data science, and consulting services for utility clients. This fully remote role is designed to support data science, machine learning, and software development teams by designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure that is secure, reliable, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure to meet business needs
• Monitor cloud resources for performance, cost optimization, and security
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code using OpenTofu for AWS resources
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments with Terragrunt and Bitbucket pipelines
• Implement monitoring and alerting systems
• Develop scripts and tools for operational efficiency using Python and Bash
• Ensure security best practices aligned with SOC 2, CIS, and company policies
• Triage security alerts and remediate vulnerabilities
• Provide user support and troubleshoot cloud-related issues
• Support production environments and technical troubleshooting
• Document processes, procedures, and architectural decisions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including executive, data science, and software engineering to meet technical needs using AWS services
Requirements:
• 5+ years hands-on experience with AWS services and tools
• 2+ years in an AWS cloud engineering role
• Proficiency with core AWS services: EC2, VPC, S3, Lambda, CloudFormation, IAM, Route53, KMS
• Familiarity with AWS security and management tools: Control Tower, Security Hub, CloudTrail, Config, Inspector, GuardDuty
• Experience managing infrastructure with Terraform/OpenTofu (Terragrunt optional)
• Linux administration and shell scripting experience
• Proficiency in Python scripting
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices
• Experience with containerization (Docker, ECS, EKS); Kubernetes administration preferred
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer) preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field preferred
