Description:
Brilliant Financial Staffing is seeking a skilled Payroll Accountant to join a well-established client in the food manufacturing industry. This is a fully remote, long-term contract role (minimum six months) with the possibility of extension. The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate payroll postings, reconciling accounts, and supporting overall payroll and tax expense management. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager and Payroll Supervisor, the ideal candidate will thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Balance and validate payroll postings to the general ledger for multiple employers and ledgers
• Allocate payroll- and tax-related expenses through journal entries
• Monitor and prepare payroll accruals; perform account validations to ensure accurate reporting
• Prepare and reconcile multiple bank accounts
• Assist with invoice preparation, coding, and processing
• Meet strict month-end close deadlines
• Determine and monitor intercompany general ledger postings
• Ensure balance sheet accruals accurately reflect outstanding payroll liabilities
• Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and employee data

Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a payroll accountant and/or general ledger accounting
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-volume corporate setting; large-company experience preferred
• Strong technical aptitude with ERP systems (SAP experience preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
• Manufacturing industry experience preferred but not required
