Description:
Position Summary:
ClearCaptions is seeking an experienced, hands-on Assistant Controller to support and help lead the company’s accounting operations. You will work remotely and report to the Corporate Controller, driving month-end close activities, managing receivables and payables, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise and demonstrated leadership in a fast-growing environment.
What You Will Do:
- Lead and execute month-end and year-end close processes to deliver timely, accurate financial results.
- Prepare and analyze balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and management reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, corporate credit card activity, and general ledger journal entries.
- Oversee reserves, asset accounting, expenditures, and revenue/expense projections.
- Coordinate preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns (including property and sales tax) and respond to related inquiries.
- Support external and internal audits and manage FCC/TRS reporting efforts, including TRS Cost report preparation and submission.
- Develop, document, and improve accounting policies, processes, and internal controls as the company scales.
- Assist with accounting aspects of M&A activity, including data conversion and integration into a common general ledger.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage accounting staff — set priorities, drive performance, and develop talent.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and Operations to ensure regulatory compliance and accurate financial information.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6+ years of accounting experience with a mix of public accounting and corporate roles; at least 3 years of people management experience.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and tax/regulatory requirements.
- Strong technical proficiency with accounting systems, MS Office (advanced Excel), and modern virtual collaboration tools (e.g., MS Teams).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Experience preparing financial narratives, charts, and management presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and a growing infrastructure.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel up to ~5% (including occasional overnight travel).
- Proven record of maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary range: $130,000 – $150,000 per year plus a target 10% bonus.
