Overview:
Symetra is seeking a motivated Actuarial Associate II to join the Benefits Division. The role focuses on the pricing, valuation, and risk management of group life, disability, supplemental health, and stop-loss products. As part of the Symetra Actuarial Student Program, candidates will receive exam support, mentoring, and opportunities to rotate across actuarial departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance actuarial models for pricing, valuation, and risk management.
  • Conduct advanced analytics and experience studies to refine assumptions and models.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of actuarial analyses.
  • Drive process automation, strong data governance, and analytical improvements to deliver actionable insights to management.
  • Support professional development, pursue actuarial exams, and mentor junior actuaries.
  • Participate in product development and pricing enhancements based on market needs.
  • Assist in improving reserve and business modeling and predictive analytics tools.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Completion of 3 to 5 actuarial exams with a commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Strong technical skills in Excel, managing large data sets; proficiency in SQL or Python preferred.
  • Creativity and flexibility to implement new techniques, software, or processes to enhance analysis.
  • Ability to solve complex actuarial problems and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance products and industry practices.
  • Experience with automation and process improvement is a plus.
