Description:
Optimal Blue (OB) is seeking a highly skilled Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to lead and manage an AR team. You will oversee the invoicing process, maintain customer accounts, ensure timely collection of outstanding balances, and provide insights on AR performance. The AR Manager reports directly to the VP of Accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage the full customer invoicing process
• Develop, maintain, and update AR process and procedure documentation
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of AR specialists
• Proactively contact customers regarding outstanding balances to ensure timely payments
• Implement strategies to reduce overdue accounts and improve collections
• Maintain accurate records of collection communications and actions
• Foster positive relationships internally and with customers to resolve disputes and payment delays
• Generate regular reports on AR aging and collection risk exposure
• Provide management with insights and recommendations based on AR trends
• Process daily incoming payments accurately and apply them to customer accounts
• Assist with month-end closing processes and AR inbox monitoring
• Lead the implementation of new billing systems and support billing functions during mergers or acquisitions
Skills and Abilities:
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and professional demeanor
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proven ability to maintain strong customer relationships
• Proactive, accountable, and flexible with changing priorities
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills
• Deep understanding of General Ledger and accounting procedures
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred
• Minimum five years of experience in accounting or AR roles
• Experience with billing system implementation or transitions
• Management experience is a plus
Compensation and Benefits:
• Eligible for company profit-sharing bonus plan
