Description:
John Varvatos, a distinctive American design brand based in SoHo NYC, is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join its finance team. This role reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for managing the organization’s accounts payable functions, ensuring accurate processing of invoices, timely payments to vendors, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The position offers opportunities for hybrid and remote work arrangements.
Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare weekly payment runs, ensuring transactions are booked the same day payments are made.
- Perform month-end closing processes and reconcile ledgers.
- Review and verify invoices and payment requests for accuracy.
- Provide supporting documentation for audits and ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Handle general clerical duties associated with accounts payable.
- Manage high-volume accounts payable processes, including invoices in multiple currencies and from multiple bank accounts.
- Collaborate with various managers and departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Utilize Microsoft Word and Excel effectively, including functions like V-Lookup and Pivot Tables.
- Maintain attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlines for month-end and year-end close.
- Apply knowledge of financial operations and controls to support efficient processes.
- Experience with RLM accounting software and international payments/taxes is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 3 years of full-cycle Accounts Payable experience.
- Prior experience in retail or inventory-centered organizations preferred.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Proactive, hands-on, and resourceful approach to work.
