Description:
charity: water is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join their finance team remotely in the United States. This role is ideal for candidates eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Reporting to the VP, Controller, the Accounting Associate will primarily manage accounts payable, review coding of invoices and expense reports, and ensure financial compliance in line with GAAP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review invoices, expense reports, and credit card expenses for accurate coding to the general ledger.
- Investigate and respond to internal and vendor inquiries related to expense transactions.
- Coach employees on navigating and mastering the expenditure system and process.
- Assist with system administrator tasks for expense management tools.
- Support compliance matters including annual audits and 990 tax returns.
- Participate in month-end close activities, prepare journal entries, and reconcile accounts.
- Help develop new processes as the organization grows.
- Manage additional administrative responsibilities and projects as needed.
Candidate Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience using financial and administrative systems/technologies.
Preferred / Added Advantages:
- 1+ year of office work or customer service experience.
- Formal Excel training.
- Familiarity with expense management platforms (e.g., Concur) or ERP software (e.g., NetSuite).
