The Accountant role at WES is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial and transactional data. This position primarily focuses on revenue reconciliation, validation, and the accurate processing of credit card transactions, refunds, and receipts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily and monthly revenue reconciliations of cash receipts and refund transactions.
  • Validate that refunds, chargebacks, and reversals are correctly reflected in Sage or Sage Intacct.
  • Cross-check receipts data between internal systems, bank statements, and merchant processors.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Track refund and dispute trends to identify recurring variances or process inefficiencies.
  • Maintain accurate transaction logs and support documentation.
  • Review source data for completeness and accuracy prior to reconciliation or system upload.
  • Assist with system cleanup projects and ensure consistency between operational and accounting records.
  • Support accounting staff in aligning sub-ledgers with the general ledger.
  • Ensure all reconciliations meet internal control and audit standards.
  • Research and resolve credit card chargebacks and disputes, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Process approved refunds accurately and log them in the accounting system.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate reflection of receipts and refunds.
  • Support audit preparation with detailed reconciliation schedules.
  • Conduct monthly investment reconciliations between custodian statements, internal records, and the general ledger.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to strengthen financial data controls.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 5-7 years of professional accounting experience in reconciliation, audit support, or financial operations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP/accounting systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data validation).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with internal teams and financial institutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA, CMA, ACCA, or CIA certification desirable.
  • Non-profit experience, including 990 tax filings.
  • Operate in Eastern Time Zone; ability to travel to NYC office as needed.
