Surefire Cyber is looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing remote team. We specialize in swift, strong responses to cyber incidents such as ransomware, malware, data theft, and more, helping clients prepare, respond, recover, and fortify their cyber resilience.
Role Overview:
As an Accountant, you will strengthen our financial operations, ensuring accurate accounting processes and supporting month-end close, invoicing, accounts payable, accruals, and expenses. You will collaborate closely with the Controller and finance team, supporting revenue recognition, financial reporting, compliance activities, and internal process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and maintain general ledger activity, including accounts payable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, adjusting journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Independently capture, approve, and code invoices and credit card expenses.
- Manage employee expense submissions and reimbursements in line with policies.
- Collaborate with the finance team on monthly invoicing, process improvements, and ad-hoc projects.
- Support vendor and customer onboarding and address finance-related inquiries.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and revenue recognition activities.
- Strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
- Coordinate audits, tax filings, and 1099 reporting with external partners.
- Support monthly close deadlines, occasionally requiring evening or weekend work.
- Participate in finance team and company-wide meetings, cross-departmental projects, and semiannual all-hands meetings.
Qualifications & Expertise:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; CPA or public accounting experience is a plus.
- Proficient in general ledger management, adjusting journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with QuickBooks or similar software preferred.
- Strong ethics, reliability, and accountability in handling sensitive financial data.
- Adaptable, proactive, and a collaborative communicator.
