Description:
We’re Hiring | Accountant II

The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA), Division of Business and Finance (DBF), is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as an Accountant II. This role is essential to maintaining accurate financial operations for the State of Arizona, focusing on accounts receivable, accounts payable, and comprehensive financial reconciliation. The position may allow hybrid remote work within Arizona based on departmental needs and performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities:


• Manage Accounts Receivable by recording, tracking, and reconciling billings, adjustments, and modifications, including benefits billing updates and stop reports
• Approve financial documents in AZ360 in accordance with delegated authority and maintain supporting documentation for audits and compliance reviews
• Process daily cash receipts including wires, interface files, and remote bank deposits; manage payment website activities
• Perform reconciliations and reporting; assist with financial reporting and audit support
• Serve as a lead and provide training and guidance to lower-level staff
• Process vendor payments, adjustments, and inter/intra-agency transactions

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:


• Advanced governmental and financial accounting principles (FASB, GASB)
• AZ360 accounting system and reconciliation procedures
• Fixed asset acquisition, disposal, and depreciation methods
• Accrual, cash, and fund-based accounting
• Office procedures, departmental rules, and database applications

Skills in:


• College-level math including ratio analysis, amortization, variance analysis, and multivariable problem solving
• Oral and written communication
• Using software applications and accounting systems
• Interpreting ADOA policies and procedures
• Work and time management, organization, and team collaboration
• Analyzing and interpreting financial data to support decision-making

Ability to:


• Apply knowledge and skills to perform a wide variety of advanced accounting functions within a dynamic environment

Selective Preferences:


• Experience in State accounting systems

Pre-Employment Requirements:


• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Background and reference checks, including criminal records verification
• Driver’s license may be required if driving is essential to job duties
