Description:
Gulf Model School in Dubai, a CBSE curriculum institution approved by KHDA, is inviting applications for the role of Head of Department (HOD) – Social Science for the Academic Year 2026–2027. The school is looking for a highly experienced and motivated academic professional who can lead the Social Science department while ensuring high standards of teaching, curriculum delivery, and student performance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and guiding the Social Science department, which includes subjects such as History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics. This leadership role requires strong academic knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to mentor teachers while maintaining compliance with CBSE and KHDA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the Social Science Department, ensuring effective coordination among subject teachers
• Oversee the implementation of the CBSE curriculum and ensure proper adherence to assessment standards
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate teachers within the department to maintain high teaching standards
• Monitor lesson planning, classroom delivery, and student academic performance
• Develop and implement departmental improvement strategies aligned with the school’s educational goals
• Organize academic activities such as projects, exhibitions, and subject-related events for students
• Ensure full compliance with KHDA regulations and CBSE academic guidelines
• Collaborate with school leadership and administration to support ongoing academic development and innovation
Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in Social Science or a related specialization such as History, Geography, Political Science, or Economics
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) is mandatory
• Teaching license or eligibility approval is preferred
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the CBSE curriculum framework
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and educational technology tools used in modern teaching environments
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in Social Science subjects
• At least 2–3 years of experience in a leadership role such as coordinator or department head
• Prior experience working in CBSE-affiliated schools, preferably within the UAE
• Experience in preparing for school inspections such as KHDA or CBSE evaluations will be considered an advantage
