Hiring Head of Coffee

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and develop the client’s Roastery, with an overview of hot beverage service.
• Set objectives, targets and strategy for the department.
• Awareness of existing accounts to ensure customer retention.
• Create bespoke coffee solutions and support structures for private label and wholesale customers.
• Manage/develop the clients Internal Education Program ensuring a strong link between the Roastery and Coffee Professional’s team.
• Develop and maintain projects and relationships with coffee growing individuals/communities throughout Latin & Central America, Asia and Africa through origin trips and remote engagement.
• Ensure relationships with existing producer partners are sustained/evolve.
• Seek/develop new relationships.
• Source/manage a range of Specialty Coffee SO for the client catalogue .
• Source/manage Specialty Coffee program for external wholesale and white label business.
• Work with Roasting team to maintain analysis and records of all green coffee samples at origin and in PSS/ NA samples.
• Monitor/maintain green coffee quality standards from farm-to-cup.
• Provide green coffee procurement and quality feedback services to clients.
• Work with the Roasting team to ensure coffee production quality is of the highest standards.
• Provide guidance, support/development/training to all roastery staff.
• Work with Coffee Professionals to assist in training and support.
• Work with Product & Training Manager for a seamless approach to coffee from Roastery to cup.
• Provide consultancy, training/support to clients and customers.
• Ensure all Roastery roasters are trained to a high standard.
• Work with the Production & QHSE Manager to maintain roastery health and safety protocols.
• Ensure compliance with all cleaning and maintenance of roastery equipment
• Support the client teams in their events and corporate engagement.
• Promote the client, engaging with the wider Specialty Coffee Industry through events, talks and activities.
• Be aware of industry trends and engagement.

Person Specification:

• Extensive experience of cupping/espresso quality assessment.
• Experience in developing blends for espresso and filter coffee.
• Experience in R&D and Nespresso Compatible capsules develop.
• A proven track record in training people.
• Extensive experience as Coffee Championships Judge
• Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team and influence a large peer group
• Experience of sourcing and shipping coffee.
• Extensive in Organize Coffee Championships
• Formal training on PROBAT roasting machines.

 Education:

• Q Arabica and Q Robusta Grader or equivalent.
• World Barista Championship Judge or similar.
