Description:
We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Guidance Counsellor to join our school from August 2024.
Key Responsibilities:
- To use a scaffolding approach to help students, exploring, generating, and building career options with students.
- Handling the formal psychometric assessment and counselling starting from Year group 8
- Developing the portfolio and exploration of courses and universities within the career clusters.
- Guiding the students through making decisions about their careers/ degree to pursue
- Helping students on various entrance examinations, writing of personal statements, supporting the university application process; full documentation and submission of documents for college admission
- Managing the individual counselling sessions with parents to be undertaken to discuss specific career options.
- Evaluating students’ abilities and interests through aptitude assessments, interviews, and individual planning
- Working with students to develop skills, such as organizational and time management abilities and effective study habits.
- Liaising with external career consultants, universities (Local and International)
- Organizing Career Fairs/ University presentations. Presenting opportunities for students to attend Career Exhibitions, Organizing career guidance workshops.
- Assisting and organizing local/ International trips to universities.
- Supporting the Community Service Outreach programs will be an added advantage.
- Ability to develop internship opportunities.
- Ability to create opportunities and experiences for students to explore their interests and passions.
Requirements to Apply:
- Degree in Psychology/Counselling
- A teaching qualification is beneficial.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience (in UAE) as a Guidance Counsellor
- A high command of written and spoken English.
