About the Role:

This role supports all operational daily functions for the Financial Controls department within the tax division and is an integral part of fraud mitigation and cost avoidance initiatives (First line of defense in risk mitigation) within the organization. Responsibilities all relate to protection of tax refunds and related fees distributed to taxpayers and tax preparers respectively. Manages review and release of refunds via check distribution. Monitors suspected fraud checklist daily and accepts/returns funds based on tax division guidelines & recommend decisions on treatment. Manages fulfillment ordering and distribution of check stock, card stock, and marketing supplies, ensuring timely receipt to over 35k offices annually.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage check processing functions, including review, correction, submission, and subsequent distribution to tax payers and tax preparers.
  • Review ACH transactions returned from 3rd party banks and redirects funds to correct account.
  • Process incoming and outgoing fund transfers, handling of exceptions, and reconciliation of accounts in a timely manner.
  • Identify risk, set action plans, and meet regulatory requirements using internal controls.
  • Support and provide feedback to Tax leadership in the development of strategies, policies, and key performance indicators.
  • Main support contact between Financial Controls department and multiple Tax Division departments, i.e., sales, client services, marketing.
  • Manage the annual fulfillment to EROs enrolled in the Tax program. This includes initial orders, inventory management, online reorders, shipment tracking and assistance to other Tax groups. Ensures timely receipt of tax supplies, i.e., checks, cards, marketing material, all critical to the seasonal success of ERO offices.
  • Maintain budget integrity for all shipments and distribution of supplies to ERO offices
  • Review all Financial Controls processes each season and recommend/implement enhancements.
  • React and respond to special business projects throughout the tax division as presented.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires 2+ years of related experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Accounting skills and risk related management skills helpful
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, & Powerpoint skills
  • The ability to handle competing priorities
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to collaborate within the team and cross-functionally

The salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this role. Individual pay within the range will be determined by multiple factors which can include but are not limited to a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
