Description:
We’re looking for an EHS Manager in UAE to support the Saint-Gobain UAE businesses in performing their EHS role and responsibilities. The candidate will be responsible for all sites in UAE.
- The right candidate MUST HAVE industrial/manufacturing experience with 7-10 years of experience.
- To support the Saint-Gobain UAE businesses to perform their EHS role and responsibilities for all sites under the direct operational responsibility
- The principle purpose of this role is to provide support and direction to the business in its aim of zero harm.
- This will include the analysis of risk, the setting of objectives, training and awareness, and monitoring and review.
- In addition to the aim of continuous improvement through risk reduction the EHS systems must also be maintained to satisfy Saint-Gobain UAE and local regulatory requirements.
Health & Safety:
- Develop and maintain the EHS Management System in compliance with the applicable UAE laws and regulations as well as Saint-Gobain group standards.
- Ensure EHS certifications in compliance with the EHS regulations
- Create and promote the Safety Culture in all organisations of SG UAE
- To provide support and assistance to all Saint-Gobain businesses in the UAE (including HPS and CS businesses)
- Developing and managing a local network of EHS practitioners for across all Saint-Gobain businesses in the UAE and develop their competency and skills.
- Acting as the single country entry point for all EHS documents and tools received from the Group, and modify/update these documents or tools to meet the local requirements (if required).
- Communicating and sharing good practices and lessons learned with the group.
- Organizing the EHS training, in accordance with the EHS skill and training matrices, and making it available to all business units within UAE
- Own and maintain the SMS to ensure continued compliance against relevant standards (AD EHSMS Regulatory Framework) and other applicable regulatory authorities within the Emirates.
- Develop and implement an effective internal audit programme to monitor the business performance against group and local standards.
- Promote and use the Behavioural Safety (SMAT) discussion tool to the agreed target number
- Additional duties in line with the Safety Responsibilities Matrix
- Create and deliver EHS related training programs in SG UAE
- Ensure that group safety warnings and notices are evaluated and communicated to the business as required.
Environment:
- Through the site Environmental pillar establish annual targets, plans and measures.
- Develop and implement an effective internal audit programme to monitor the business performance against group and local standards.
- Promote and use the EMAT discussion tool to the agreed target number
People Development:
- Carry out documented one-to-one discussions with the team on a minimum monthly basis.
- Ensure that all the team have annual appraisals and half yearly reviews.
- Through appraisals and reviews establish a clear development plan for each of the team.
- Provide training support to the team to maintain competence in the area of Health, Safety and Environment.
Site Risk:
- With support from the engineering team manage the site risk activities to minimise the risk to business continuity.
- Support audits from XL Gaps to ensure that the site is compliant with the external audit programme and managing the identified actions.
WCM:
- Use the appropriate WCM tools to understand and address gaps in Company’s health, safety and environmental systems
- Leading the WCM Health & Safety pillar as per the WCM Bronze standards wherever applicable
- Reporting: The position will report to Operations Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Safety training to NEBOSH Certificate level or equivalent.
- OSHAD practitioner Grade A
- 7 to 10 years of experience in Manufacturing/Industrial environment, working with established EHS systems, preferably in compliance with the ADEHSMS regulatory framework and with an understanding of ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 standards.
- Excellent Communication & Peoples’ skills. Knowledge of human psychology is beneficial.
