Hiring Draftsman

Role Purpose:

Jobs at this level are engaged in the production of engineering drawings and the supervision of Draftsmen. Jobholders perform their Drafting roles within discipline-specific areas of projects and might not be involved in all the accountabilities set out below. This fact does not mean that jobs will be any larger or smaller in evaluation terms as a result of this situation.

Key Accountabilities:

• Prepare shop and fabrication drawings, under close supervision, for review by senior colleagues and subsequent issue for construction.
• Coordinate with the inspector concerned and take necessary steps to correct the drawings and input accordingly.
• Undertake back-Drafting of drawings to reflect corrections that need to be made to initial documentation. Revise drawings incorporating subsequent modifications.
• Review and check the work of Draftsmen to ensure accuracy and correctness prior to their formal issue for construction.
• Receive basic drawings from Drafting Team Leader and produce detailed engineering drawings for review and subsequent issue.
• Prepare General Arrangement Drawings (GADs)
• Produce material take-offs to ensure accurate account is taken of all component parts required to complete a project.
• Produce 3 dimensional (3D) modelling presentations to meet contractual client requirements. Apply to large projects, if required.
• Able to make joints in simplified view and suffix details of the components in the structures for visibility and joint clarity.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

• Higher national Certificate, or *equivalent, and an ITI Certificate in Drafting.
• 8 year’s previous drafting experience with a t least 5 years at Level 1.
• Supervisory potential.
• Team player.
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Experienced and competent Computer Aided Design (CAD) operator.
• Rigorous checker.
• Work Location: Abu Dhabi.
