Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced BOM Management & Document Control Specialist with extensive Arena Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or similar PLM tool expertise. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in hardware-focused PLM administration, document control, BOM management, manufacturing processes, and supply chain coordination. In this role, you will manage and maintain hardware component libraries, ensure accurate BOMs, control essential documentation, and drive supply chain efficiencies within the Arena PLM system.

Responsibilities:

BOM Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain structured part numbering and classification schemes for electronic, mechanical, and assembly-level components.
  • Create, manage, and audit top-level Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring completeness, accuracy, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure BOM accuracy and facilitate smooth transition to manufacturing.
  • Establish and enforce robust processes for revision control, change
  • management, and approval workflows for all hardware documentation.

Arena PLM System Administration

  • Serve as the primary Arena PLM Administrator, responsible for system configuration, optimization, and maintenance focused on hardware design and manufacturing integration.
  • Oversee user roles, permissions, and workflows, ensuring seamless integration with CAD, ERP, QMS, and supply chain management systems.
  • Lead deployment and migration initiatives of Arena PLM tailored specifically to hardware and manufacturing needs.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation and training materials.

Supply Chain & Manufacturing Coordination

  • Partner with Supply Chain and Manufacturing teams to optimize component sourcing strategies, inventory management, and cost efficiency within BOM structures.
  • Establish procedures to ensure timely and accurate transfer of BOM data to manufacturing, vendors, and procurement teams.
  • Conduct regular BOM and component audits to anticipate supply chain risks and ensure continuous component availability.

Compliance & Document Control

  • Enforce document control standards, naming conventions, and version control policies specific to hardware documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards through rigorous management of document approval processes, including electronic signatures.

Process Improvement & Training

  • Identify, propose, and implement process improvements in hardware documentation, BOM management, and PLM system usage.
  • Provide targeted training and support to internal teams on BOM creation, hardware documentation standards, and Arena PLM functionality.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and IT departments to streamline hardware-related processes, ensuring system reliability and security.
  • Act as liaison with Arena PLM vendors regarding hardware-specific functionalities, upgrades, and integrations.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current on industry best practices in hardware BOM management, PLM trends, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Develop KPIs for BOM accuracy, component availability, and process efficiency; regularly report metrics and propose enhancements.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in document control, and BOM management using Arena PLM or similar PLM tools.
  • Proven expertise in hardware-focused PLM administration, supply chain management, document control processes, and manufacturing processes.
  • Deep understanding of BOM structures, hardware component libraries, and part numbering conventions.
  • Demonstrated success deploying Arena PLM systems integrated with ERP, QMS, and CAD platforms.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
