Hiring Charge Entry Specialist

This is a remote position.

Overview

The Charge Entry Specialist provides proofing, reconciliation, and billing support to the clinical and corporate office staff. In this role, you will support accurate dialysis claim processing, billing corrections, and coordination with clinical staff, ensuring services are properly captured and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. The Charge Entry Specialist actively applies a solid foundation and knowledge of charge entry while exercising appropriate independent thought and decision-making skills. The Charge Entry Specialist must have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, as well as handle a high volume of communications via phone, email, and face to face.

Essential Functions

  • Dialysis Claim Corrections: Process, add, change, or remove dialysis treatment claims as needed to ensure accurate billing.
  • Charge Proofing & Reconciliation: Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly billing audits to validate treatments, medications, labs, and other services.
  • Collaboration with Clinical Teams: Communicate with clinic staff to resolve billing discrepancies and confirm services, supporting a seamless billing workflow.
  • Claim Correction & Regeneration: Manage claim corrections by processing deletions and regenerating claims to ensure accurate reimbursement.
  • Audit & Documentation Support: Assist with audit documentation for both internal and external purposes, ensuring compliance and transparency.
  • Data Entry & Reporting: Run and review reports through EMR and QMS billing systems, troubleshooting, and correcting import errors to maintain clean billing records.
  • Preparation for Split Billing: Work with clinics on weekly split billing processes and month-end closing through thorough reconciliation in QMS and EMR systems.

Education And Experience

  • Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent in a related field is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: 1-2 years in a medical billing, charge entry, or reconciliation role is required, with experience in dialysis billing highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel for data analysis, and experience with medical billing software such as EMR and QMS.
  • Medical Knowledge: Familiarity with medical terminology and HIPAA compliance standards.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to review and interpret treatment sheets and billing data with exceptional accuracy.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills for liaising with clinical staff and effectively handling inquiries.
