Job Description:
As a Car Rental Accountant, you will play a vital role in managing the financial aspects of our car rental operations. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing rental revenue and expenses, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile rental revenue accounts, including daily rental transactions and payments
- Record and reconcile rental expenses, including vehicle maintenance, fuel, insurance, and other operational costs
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management regarding rental performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement
- Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable, follow up on overdue payments, and manage vendor relationships
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities for rental revenue and expenses
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure accurate recording of rental-related transactions and expenses
- Assist with tax preparation and compliance requirements, including sales tax, income tax, and regulatory filings
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed
- Stay up-to-date on accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends relevant to car rental operations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or relevant certification preferred
- Previous experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the car rental or automotive industry
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
