HALO is looking for a Buyer who will be responsible for developing and maintaining a wide range of product assortment of assigned categories, with a strong focus on margin growth, budget, and timeline requirement. This position will negotiate with suppliers to obtain high quality merchandise with the best possible price / value available in the market, analyze market trends, evaluate supplier options, negotiate contracts, and ensure inventory levels meet business demands.
Must be able to work Eastern Time hours
Responsibilities
- Responsible for achieving sales and margin growth through supplier management, product selection, strategic cost negotiations, rebate and special buy opportunities for all assigned merchandise categories.
- Establish trust and build effective business relationships with current and potential Domestic suppliers
- Hold suppliers accountable for service KPIs.
- Develop merchandise assortments by category and brand, and continually evaluate, analyze and adjust assortments to maximize return and ensure compatibility with corporate strategy.
- Evaluate product sales performance, product availability and backorders, and adjust assortment accordingly.
- Interpret and forecast trends and react accordingly to market changes to ensure current assortment is competitive and relevant.
- Partner with Supply chain to identify and action obsolete inventory.
- Attend trade shows and conduct supplier business reviews as per the merchandise calendar.
- Present quarterly trend research recaps on key categories.
- Build strong relationships with warehouse and cross-functional partners to manage new receipts and help resolve any product issues with vendors.
- Partner with warehouse(s) on return to vendor, damages and chargeback execution and processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (preferred) and/or 5 years’ experience in similar role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and purchasing software (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Previous buying responsibility for diverse set of categories required as well as category management
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Understanding of Supply Chain management, operational concepts surrounding purchasing, logistics and inventory control.
- Effective multi-tasking skills in a deadline driven environment; good cross functional communication, time and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and interface professionally and effectively with other departments.
- Must be willing and able to work Eastern Time hours
Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is between $55,000 – $103,000 annually. Please note that this pay range serves as a general guideline and reflects a broad spectrum of labor markets across the US. While it is uncommon for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the range, compensation decisions are influenced by various factors.
