Athena Shipping is Hiring for the Role of Bunker Executive.

Qualification and Mandates: Degree/Diploma in Technical Field with Exposure to Commercial Activities.

Minimum 5 Year Experience in a Similar Position in an Industrial or Marine Environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Voyage Planning for maximization of profits.
• Cargo Stowage Planning for increased freight revenue.
• Voyage Bunker Planning and Purchasing/Booking at the lowest possible price.
• Monitor vessel’s performance in terms of speed and bunker consumption.
• Monitor charter party obligations. Stem vessel bunkers, arrange owner’s agency appointments/coordination.
• Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with sub charterers post-fixture and/or operations teams while effectively managing risks.
• Responsible for monitoring vessel, port, and voyage performance.
• Carry out continual risk assessment of vessel operations for potential loss situations and, recommend and assist with mitigation measures.
• Support and brief vessel masters on charter party obligations, port and voyage performance issues. Responsible for ensuring that the master understands the requirements, reporting obligations, local contacts and operational structure of the charterer.
• Issuance of voyage instructions to master/owner & communication with the master/owner and ports to make sure they adhere to the charter party terms.
• Prepare voyage highlights based on Charterers voyage orders for the master’s easy understanding and effective follow-up for successful completion of the voyage.
• Manage vessel’s loading/discharge operations, check port limitations, vessel loadable and plan stowage.
• Ensure the vessel’s quick turnaround in port by liaising closely with agent/owner/master.
• Arrange Bunker, verify Cargo Tank and prepare to load the intended Cargo on TC / VOY vessels.
• Monitor TC Vessel’s performance and ensure that vessel performance per the charter party clause.
• Exchange of information between charterer, owner and vessel concerning performance of Time Charter Contract (T/C), bunkers, cargo problems, etc.
• Prepare T/C hire statements and include deductions for off-hire time & bunkers, owners expenses and other due deductions.
• Handling of On/Off hire procedures into/out of T/C employments incl. of surveys.

Professional Experience

• Preferably a degree/diploma holder in the technical field with exposure to commercial activities.
• A good knowledge of the market and of marine suppliers globally.
• A good knowledge of technical terminology particularly within the marine environment.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position in an industrial or marine environment.
• Must be computer literate, with good communication skills and the ability to interface with both technical and non-technical personnel.
