About The Role
The Billing Specialist will be responsible for creating and submitting claims, bills, and patient statements. The Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring an organized, cohesive process is in place for all claims submissions, revenue cycle tracking, denial management, and resubmissions. The Billing Specialist will be highly organized, motivated, and energetic. The Billing Specialist will work on a team of Insurance Specialists, Billing Specialists, and revenue cycle experts.
The Billing Specialist will have strong organizational skills and multitasking abilities. The Billing Specialist is also comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment, solving problems independently, and comfortable with ambiguity as data systems and processes are still being shaped.
Responsibilities
- Timely filing of claims to insurance plans for patient services
- Quick and effective follow up on claim status and mitigating submission errors and wrongful denials
- Accurate management of payment procedures, financial records, and claims processes
- Working closely with the revenue cycle team to ensure accurate patient accounting, statement management, payment posting, and reconciliation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years experience in healthcare billing, revenue cycle, and/or patient accounting
- Medical billing, coding, and/or health insurance experience; specific experience with CMS 1500 claims
- Strong skills in communication and collaboration with diverse teams
- Organized and results-driven
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, subject to rapid change and innovation

Physical Demands
Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
