THE OPPORTUNITY

Fisher Phillips, a leading international labor and employment law firm is hiring a talented Billing Specialist (Appeals) to support the needs of the firm. This position can be performed hybrid/remote from any of our 40 offices, but will be based out of the Atlanta office. In this role, the Billing Specialist (Appeals) role will be responsible for reviewing and submitting appeal opportunities in various ebilling platforms in an effort to facilitate the payment of outstanding invoices. The position will be responsible for several client portfolios and insurance carriers and will review their reductions, create and submit appeal packets to the attorneys, and submit the completed appeals before their deadlines. They will also assist the appeals team lead with various reports and problem-solving scenarios. Although this position is a hybird/remote position, you would generally need to be available to work during standard business hours.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage the appeal process for reduced invoices for a set list of assigned insurance carriers.
  • Generate recap reports using Word, Adobe, & Excel for legal staff to utilize to in crafting comments to appeal.
  • Manage appeal deadlines & follow up with legal staff to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Utilize eBilling Hub & various eBilling platforms to submit appeals.
  • Proactively source expense & prior authorization documentation for appeals using tools such as Expert Image & IManage.
  • Communicate with billing attorneys, billing specialists, & collections team to resolve issues related to reductions.
  • Track lifecycle of appealable invoice in ARCS collections software to ensure all steps of the appeal process are completed on time.
  • Clear knowledge of the eBilling/billing process for insurance clients.
  • General understanding of insured matter billing & major carrier guidelines.
  • Ability to problem solve & use resources to resolve complex invoice reductions & assist in preventing similar reductions in the future.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 2 + years experience working in a law firm as an A/R or billing professional.
  • 2 + years experience with A/R success in facilitating payment of outstanding invoices.
  • Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Excel and ability to create and maintain spreadsheets.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of collections and billing software. Aderant and ARCs preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of eBilling platforms, namely eBilling Hub or BillBlast, & ability to navigate primary vendor websites for major insurance carriers.
  • Knowledge of the firm’s business process and business operations.
