Summary
The Billing Specialist AR will be responsible for monitoring claims and payer responses and taking action to ensure appropriate payment of claims, adjustments, or invoices to patients.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- BA in Business preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years in revenue cycle management for healthcare provider.
- Specific experience with laboratory RCM a plus.
- Experience with all payer groups and plans.
- Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 and payer claim requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review claim responses from payers including denials and taking appropriate next steps.
- Prepare appeal packets utilizing patient medical records and documentation supporting medical necessity.
- Follow up with payers for claim status.
- Utilize RCM software and payer websites to identify claim status.
- Prepare and submit medical records to payers as required.
- Provide regular reporting to RCM leadership.
- Prepare and follow up on appeals to payers as necessary.
- Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

- Frequently required to utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
