Hiring Accounting Staff I – Batavia, NY

Overview

This position partners with the Accounting team to maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger system as well as related sub-systems. This position will also be expected to assist with the preparation of financial reports, regulatory reports and other external reports.

Responsibilities

  • Download – Process and report daily company downloads into AMS. Investigate and problem solve any issues.
  • Bank Accounts – Reconcile and monitor all agency bank accounts on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Process checks and deposits in AMS.
  • Health, Life and DBL Commissions – process billings, reconcile and record deposits of commissions.
  • Direct Bill Reconciliation – Reconcile company commission statements against billings processed to the AMS general ledger. Including follow up on unreceived commissions or billing errors with AM and companies.
  • Reports – Process and distribute various reports for agency to management, supervisors, account executives and account managers.
  • Operating Payables – Process operating payables and forward to vendors. Maintain & Set up of new vendors in AMS.
  • Operating Deposits – process and record to proper GL accounts in AMS.
  • Supply Ordering – Order supplies for the agency locations.
  • Attend accounting meetings and actively participate in the assessment of account controls and procedures.
  • Assist co-workers daily with miscellaneous issues.
  • Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures and practices of the agency.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent Excellent computer and keyboarding skills; knowledge of word processing with Windows experience.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Ability to self-direct the completion of job duties.
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills, a high analytical ability; a working knowledge of agency policies and procedures; moderate computer skills, including knowledge of on-line data system and visual and auditory skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, multiple-task environment with a high-disruption rate.
  • Good communication skills to resolve conflict with minimum negative impact on all parties.
  • Work independently; prioritize work in order to meet goals in all areas.
  • Must be a self-starter, with forward-thinking capabilities, and demonstrate good organizational and mathematical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and other computer applications.
  • Detail oriented, professional and confidential.
  • AMS experience is desirable.
