We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our team located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This role is part of the accounting industry and involves managing and updating financial records, including receivables and invoices. This position offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry tasks with high accuracy
  • Record customer payments, including cash, checks, and credit card transactions
  • Regularly update receivables by totaling unpaid invoices
  • Maintain and review records of invoices, debits, and credits
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary
  • Utilize Accounts Receivable (AR) skills to manage and update customer accounts
  • Ensure the accurate processing of customer credit applications
  • Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action when necessary

Requirements

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in Accounts Receivable (AR) is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy in work.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills.
